STEVE STAMP
Representing Agent: Debi Allen
Roles: Actor, Writer
BIOGRAPHY:
Steve Stamp is the writer and creator of BAFTA nominated People Just Do Nothing, a BBC Three mockumentary about West London pirate radio station Kurupt FM. The first series aired on BBC3 and iPlayer and was a hit with both the critics and the public. The show has enjoyed three successful series, with the third also appearing on BBC2. The third received a nomination for Best TV Situation Comedy at the Writer's Guild Awards 2017 and Best TV Series at the 2017 NME Awards. A fourth series will commence filming this year.

A keen social observer, Steve's passions lie in story-telling and making people laugh. His diverse skills are apparent in the award winning animated film Drawing Inspiration, and his directorial debut for Craze & Hoax - Wait for me, which was nominated for best budget dance video at the UK Music Video Awards.

The attention to detail Steve applies to all aspects of his work helps to create rich, authentic worlds and characters who are at once original and recognisable to audiences. He also enjoys performing, and can be seen playing "the drug-induced mess" Steves in People Just Do Nothing. The show had great success at the Royal Television Society Awards, 2017, winning in the Scripted Comedy category and they’ve also just released a single featuring Ed Sheeran called ‘What Do I Know?’ to raise money for Red Nose Day and Comic Relief, complete with a hilarious music video.

Press for People Just Do Nothing

“If Grindah is Brent, Steves is his Gareth. One of the major joys of this series has been watching the hapless and lanky DJ as he buzzes through each episode on an entirely different, pill-induced, frequency.” David Renshaw, The Guardian

“Operating in a world of sweetly modest ambition and near constant buffoonery, this stealthily charming series manages to capture the tone of life in the midst of barren suburbia uncannily well.” Rachel Aroesti, The Guardian

“Fresh, farcical comedy with a soft spot for suburban loserdom.” Hannah J Davies, The Guardian

“a brilliantly observed comedy that will make you wince and lol (as its original intended audience might say) in equal measure.” Sally Newall, The Independent

“Entertaining, and absolutely of its time” Gerard O'Donovan, The Telegraph

“At first glance you might think that People Just Do Nothing is pretty niche youth programming from BBC3. A fly-on-the-wall documentary about a bunch of baseball capped no-marks running a pirate radio station called Kurupt FM in Brentford? Hardly crossover potential surely. But you’d be wrong. I’ve got a friend who works for Stannah Stairlift-advertising Saga magazine who doesn’t know his garage from his grime and he loves it. He has excellent taste.” Bruce Dessau, Beyond the Joke

“The set-up is original, the execution clever, the characters rich and the acting superb.” Harry Venning – The Stage

“People Just Do Nothing is probably the funniest, laugh out loud comedy BBC Three have had in years.” Elliot Gonzalez, italktelly.com
